Silent Spring Revolution by Douglas Brinkley

I choose Douglas Brinkley’s Silent Spring Revolution: John F. Kennedy, Rachel Carson, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and the Great Environmental Awakening. Brinkley tells of a forgotten time when earth defenders harnessed the power of government to preserve wilderness, endangered species, and air and water quality. He reminds us that successful conservation campaigns require more than lawyers and lobbyists. Silent Spring Revolution inspires us to rebuild a citizens’ movement that reclaims Democracy for all—human and non-human. A Democracy capable of defending Wild Life from climate change, habitat degradation, and environmental injustice.
